Price Statement on One Year Anniversary of Dodd-Frank

Washington, D.C.– House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement on the one year anniversary of the Dodd-Frank bill was signed into law.

“When Washington picks winners and losers and when the federal government unnecessarily impedes the ability of investors and entrepreneurs to support economic growth, we get sluggish recoveries and dismal job creation,” said Chairman Price.  “For all the Democrats’ claims about the virtues of the Dodd-Frank bill, this law remains one of the single biggest incubators of the too big to fail status quo and bailout culture in Washington.  Dodd-Frank represents everything that is wrong with Washington, believing it can manipulate and dictate the American economy in a way that will promote prosperity.  Far from protecting our economy from future disaster, this law opens the door for bureaucrats and politicians to exercise greater control over the financial decisions of families and businesses.  Rather than addressing the causes of the financial crisis, it will make it harder for individuals and job creators to have access to the credit and resources they need.  Our economy faces many headwinds and it is unfortunate that Democrats continue to stand behind the disastrous policies of Dodd-Frank which will only delay the type of vibrant economic growth we need to get more Americans back to work.”
