1) H.R. 1181 - Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act (PDF)

Topline Summary: This bill prohibits the Secretary of Veterans Affairs from sending the name of an individual to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for inclusion on the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, unless there has been a specific determination by a judge, magistrate, or other judicial authority that such individual is a danger to themselves or others.

2) H.R. 1259 - VA Accountability First Act of 2017 (PDF)

Topline Summary: This bill institutes necessary reforms at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) by providing the Secretary with the authority to expeditiously remove, demote, or suspend any VA employee, including Senior Executive Service (SES) employees, for performance or misconduct.
