Passage of Veterans Funding Bill

Today the House passed the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act for FY 2009.  The legislation includes a 13.8% increase in funding from last year for our nation’s veterans and their families.

Providing funding for those who have provided so much for us is among our most imperative obligations.  From vital health care dollars to hard-earned pensions, this legislation is essential to the men and women responsible for our enduring freedom.  Our veterans, some of the most generous among us, have given their time and sacrificed their personal safety for our liberty and values.  I am hopeful that this legislation will now move quickly toward the President’s desk for his signature.
